Bailey’s Trial Experience
Bailey has tried seven major cases to date, all of which she won. She has tried three serious felony cases, two of which included misdemeanor charges, and four complex civil cases with millions of dollars at stake. She has also represented clients in eight proceedings before the United States Parole Commission (one-day trials with modified rules of evidence), litigated seven mock trials (practice trials for lawyers) and was responsible for training first-year attorneys at a global law firm on the rules of evidence and trial techniques. At George Washington University Law School, one of the best law schools in the country, she was at the top of her trial-advocacy class, a member of the mock trial board (an honors organization) and selected for the mock trial competition team, an elite team which competed nationally.
Bailey’s Work as Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney
Bailey is currently the Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Teton County. In this role, she handles felony criminal cases and assists with misdemeanor, juvenile, mental commitment, civil and advisory matters. She has established a close working relationship with the Teton County Sheriff’s Office and has a first-hand understanding of what is needed to run the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney. Bailey is also working to make a number of improvements in the office. For example, she is working to improve how vigorously the office prosecutes violent crime, the support provided to victims, the ability to prosecute fraud and other white-collar crime, the sophistication of cases the office can build, the transparency of the office, and the level of cooperation with other aspects of county and state government.
Bailey’s Years of Litigation Experience in NYC
Prior to moving to Teton County, Bailey worked as a litigator in New York City for over six years. As an associate at two global law firms, she handled high-stakes criminal and regulatory investigations involving topics such as money laundering, insider trading, accounting fraud and bribery. She defended clients in complex commercial disputes with millions of dollars at stake and advised clients on a range of cutting-edge regulatory issues. Bailey also demonstrated exceptional leadership and management skills and successfully managed numerous teams of attorneys, paralegals and staff working on dozens of high-profile cases.
Bailey’s Pro-Bono Service
In her spare time, Bailey is dedicated to providing pro-bono legal services to those in need. She has represented indigent clients in numerous felony criminal matters regarding narcotics trafficking, identity theft, credit card fraud, battery, domestic abuse and government services fraud. In New York, she volunteered with the public defender’s office handling misdemeanor hearings for defendants in impoverished neighborhoods of New York. In 2018, she worked with Lawyers Without Borders in Tanzania where she educated prosecutors and judges about human trafficking law and helped them improve their evidentiary and case management skills.
